Freight services are utilised for transporting goods in quantity or items that are large in size. Freight services are broken down into three categories namely Air Freight, Road Freight and Sea Freight.
Slower services like Sea Freight are not necessarily the cheapest option, likewise Air freight isn't always the most expensive. If you're unsure on which service to use speak to your account manager who will advise on the most cost effective solution for your business.
World Options are one of the UK’s major Air and Road freight forwarders for business, operating a comprehensive freight service where all goods are handled professionally, securely and on time.

For cost-effective transport of large shipments by road. Whether you choose a dedicated vehicle for point-to-point transport or groupage, you have the option of collection from multiple locations for consolidation and onward delivery.
A lower-cost option for delivery of large shipments over very long distances, in full or part-container loads.
HOW IT WORKS
The best solution to determine which freight service is required to move your goods is to speak to your World Options account manager. They will be able to ascertain from that conversation what solution is best.
When you're ready to proceed with your shipment the account manager will require the full details of the shipment. Your account manager will then liaise with the World Options Freight Team on your behalf as they speak to airlines, road networks or sea freight agents.
The quoting process for freight takes between 24-48 hours. Freight quotes can fluctuate in price dependant upon availability of the service, it's best to book early to avoid price differences.
PREPARING YOUR SHIPMENT
World Options recommends the following for protecting your goods:
- Protect your goods by adding load protector pads to the top and bottom of the pallet, corner or edge boards that run from top to bottom
- Tightly shrink wrap your goods and add the correct labelling to the outer layer and all four sides. Pallets will be stacked unless specified
- Use banding/strapping for extra stability
- Ensure all items are drained or bagged before they are collected, leaking items will be held back or returned.
REST OF WORLD
Air freight - As you would expect Air Freight is the quickest option out of the three freight services, an excellent solution for most goods over 100kg or irregular in shape.
Road Freight - Road freight is delivered by truck to domestic and neighbouring countries, a dedicated truck or trailer can be as quick as same day, however the most economical service is groupage. Groupage means your load will be shared with other shipments going to the same destination, however this means your goods will be stored in a warehouse until the truck has a full load, which can cause delays.
Sea Freight - Sea Freight is the slowest service and has greater potential to be delayed. Groupage is also available via Sea Freight, meaning you are able to share a shipping container with other shipments. In most cases shipments are transported in containers either 20ft or 40ft
